Lead and oversee key aspects of revenue accounting, including financial reporting, regulatory compliance, maintenance of the general ledger, and production of financial statements, to ensure accurate recognition and optimal performance of various revenue streams.
What you’ll do
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Revenue Recognition and Analysis: Oversee the timely and accurate recognition of revenue in accordance with applicable accounting standards (such as ASC 606). Analyze revenue data to uncover trends, anomalies, and opportunities for growth or efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate revenue transactions and resolve complex accounting issues related to contracts and billing.
- Financial Reporting and Revenue Analysis: Oversee the preparation and presentation of revenue-related financial analysis and reports, ensuring that all revenue activities comply with regulatory and company policies.
- Strategic Revenue Planning: Play a key role in the development of financial strategies and long-term goals related to revenue growth.
- Internal Controls and Revenue Compliance: Establish, maintain, and continuously improve robust internal control systems to safeguard revenue streams and ensure the integrity of revenue information. Ensure full compliance with all relevant revenue recognition standards, laws, and internal policies.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor a team of revenue and general accounting professionals, overseeing hiring, training, and performance management. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the revenue accounting department.
- Other Duties as Assigned: Contribute expertise to special projects such as mergers and acquisitions, system implementations, or process improvements with a focus on revenue areas. Support strategic initiatives and manage ad hoc analysis and reporting as required by senior management.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) and CPA required.
- Minimum 5+ years of relevant revenue accounting experience, preferably in a complex organizational environment.
What you’ll bring
Oversees the operational aspects of the department, focusing on the day-to-day management and execution of revenue accounting initiatives. Implements strategies developed by higher management and leads entry-level and career-level staff. Responsible for hiring, firing, disciplinary action, promotions, and pay decisions for subordinates.

Our Associate Director-Accounting earns between $116,700 - $175,100. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
