Job Overview:

We are hiring a Senior PL/SQL Development Engineer with a strong background in Oracle database development, data modeling, and enterprise-scale software engineering. This opportunity will support the transformation of our industry-standard order and delivery management systems. 

You will design, develop, and optimize complex PL/SQL components, procedures, and packages for new and existing features, enhancements, and defect resolution on AT&T’s software platforms. The position requires close collaboration with U.S.-based Product Management, Business Systems, and Operations teams throughout the system development lifecycle.

To excel in this role, you must have hands-on experience in PL/SQL development, advanced database programming, and performance tuning. You should be able to engage at a “design & code” level, contributing to architecture and best practices. Strong teamwork, communication, and analytical/problem-solving skills are essential. Experience with large-scale enterprise environments or rapid-growth start-ups is desirable.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot scalable and reusable PL/SQL solutions and database objects (procedures, functions, triggers, views, collections, cursors ).
  • Develop and optimize complex queries, packages, and data integration routines.
  • Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and refactoring for efficiency.
  • Architect and review proposed database solutions with technical stakeholders.
  • Ensure security, scalability, and maintainability of database systems.
  • Assess and evaluate existing database implementations, offering recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare design specifications, data flow diagrams, and effort estimates.
  • Support configuration management and version control of database code.
  • Document database schemas, processes, and data models in detail.
  • Liaise with external vendors and internal product, business, engineering, and design teams.
  • Participate in peer code reviews, technical workshops, and daily stand-ups.
  • Support migration, backup, and disaster recovery planning for critical systems.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Extensive4+ years of hands-on PL/SQL development experience (Oracle Database).
  • Extensive experience, ideally a minimum of 5+ years in the following:
  •  Advanced SQL programming and query optimization skills.
  • Strong understanding of relational database concepts and design (Oracle, MySQL).
  •  Experience with data modeling, normalization, and database schema design.
  • Performance tuning, analyzing execution plans, and troubleshooting bottlenecks.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes, data integration, and batch processing.
  • Experience with version control/configuration management (GitHub, Git, etc.).
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile/Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Documentation of technical designs, standards, and best practices.
  • Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Education Qualifications:            

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 4+ years of experience as a PL/SQL developer or database engineer.
  • Technical or Professional Certification in Oracle Database or relevant Domain.
