Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled professional with deep expertise in SQL and software architecture to lead the development of a unified defect and project management solutions. This role involves designing and building a robust software system—including frontend (React/Angular), backend (Postgres, Oracle, MySQL). The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, technical acumen, and the ability to understand and address executive-level requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, architect, and implement a software system featuring a Frontend UI (React/Angular), Backend Databases (Postgres, Oracle, MySQL) on Linux and MS Azure Cloud

  • Lead, mentor, and collaborate with junior developers and cross-functional teams to deliver project objectives.

  • Analyze diverse business datasets (Agent, Digital channels, ServiceNow, defect labels) to extract meaningful insights for software releases, products, programs, and business priorities.

  • Collaborate with BI and Analytics teams to build scalable GenAI frameworks applicable across multiple business areas.

  • Engage with Agent, Digital, and Legacy teams to gather requirements, define metrics, KPIs, and OKRs, and drive efficiency in engineering and testing organizations.

  • Design intuitive user interfaces tailored for senior leadership and executive users; proactively adapt to shifting business priorities.

  • Create and maintain database frameworks for critical projects, including pre- and post-production defect management.

  • Develop unified defect reporting and dashboards using tools such as JIRA and Power BI.

  • Present dashboards and insights to leadership; facilitate communication and process alignment across teams.

  • Act as a liaison between stakeholders to address requirement or design gaps and align defect management processes across all teams.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 20 years’ experience automating software systems, with an advanced degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.

  • Strong background in software engineering, defect management, and dashboard/reporting tools

  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Operating System and 10+ years of experience in shell scripting – preferable Bourne, korn sh, tc sh, bash, AWK and SED

  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in languages such as C, C++, Python, Scala, or Visual C++, and possess significant expertise in metrics dashboard creation, database frameworks, and data warehousing concepts—preferably within the telecommunications industry

  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational database design (Postgres, Oracle, MySQL) as well as ETL, JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js), HTML/CSS, server-side programming (Python, Node.js, Java)

  • Working knowledge of Public and Private Cloud – Azure preferable

  • Experience in frontend development (React/Angular) and backend architecture.

  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills, ability to mentor and guide team members.

  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and excellent analytical and communication abilities for effective cross-functional collaboration.

  • Aptitude for understanding executive-level priorities and translating them into actionable solutions.

  • Flexibility and agility to pivot in response to changing business and organizational needs.

Preferable Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge/Expertise of AT&T tools, app and data ecosystem including deep understanding of in-house legacy, new stack, vendor and 3rd party applications

  • Strong development and database background with proven ability to build scalable frameworks

Our Principal System Engineering, earns between $158,200-$237,400 USD Annual not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
